Ben Nelson

Lead Pastor

Ben, along with his wife Katie, felt the call to plant a church in the heart of Midtown Mobile for several years.  Before being sent out to plant Christ Redeemer in 2018, Ben served on the staff of Grace Community Church (PCA) in West Mobile as the Assistant Pastor since 2014.

Ben graduated from the University of South Alabama where he played four years of college baseball. Ben’s greatest college achievement however was meeting Katie, whom he convinced to marry him in 2003. Ben and Katie served together in college ministry before moving to St. Louis for seminary. Upon graduation in 2014, Ben (MDiv) and Katie (MA in Counseling) moved back to Mobile to serve at Grace Community. Ben and Katie have three kids, Aiden, Abigail and Josiah

The Nelsons love spending time with friends, exploring new places in Mobile, and traveling together. Ben enjoys coaching his kids in youth sports, while Katie enjoys cheering the loudest for her kids’ sporting events! Ben continues to follow baseball and also enjoys college football, though he will leave his favorite team unnamed.
